Until recently Dhrupad was played and sung mostly by men. Wadier are among the few women who practice Dhrupad. Marianne Svašek studied Indian classical singing at the Rotterdam Conservatory with Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar and Uday Bhawalkar.
